In the heart of every strong political party lies a well-structured and functional administration. For the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bawku Central, however, the absence of a permanent constituency office continues to undermine our organizational strength, weaken our grassroots mobilization, and dilute the effectiveness of our political machinery etc, This article seeks to highlight the challenges posed by the lack of an office, the opportunities we are missing, and the urgent need for action by our Hon. Member of Parliament, party leadership, and all relevant stakeholders.

The Vacuum: A Party Without a Home

It is unfortunate, and indeed worrying, that a vibrant and historically significant constituency like Bawku Central does not have a fully established and functioning NDC Constituency Office. Our party executives are left to operate from their homes, on the roadside, or in borrowed spaces—creating inconsistencies in communication, planning, record-keeping, and accessibility for party faithful, as well as storage of other party properties.

Without a dedicated office:

👉Party documents and records lack secure storage.

👉Internal meetings, picking of nomination forms , vetting of aspirants , trainings and seminars etc are held in temporary locations, making planning ad hoc and disorganized.

👉 Storage of Party properties, equipment, and stocks for distributions are difficult and uncoordinated.

👉Mobilization of the youth, women’s wing, and grassroots base is impaired.

👉Visibility of the NDC in the constituency is diminished, allowing opponents to dominate public presence and political narrative.
Among others.

This state of affairs does not befit a party of our caliber, nor does it reflect the political maturity and organization we claim to uphold. For a party that seeks to retain power in 2028 and continue its legacy of people-centered development, we must start by putting our own house in order—literally.

The Impact of an NDC Constituency Office: Why We Must Build One Now

Establishing a permanent and resourced NDC Constituency Office in Bawku Central will bring multiple strategic advantages:

  1. Administrative Coordination: A central hub will allow our party executives to coordinate activities effectively, keep records, store party properties and execute programs without the limitations of displacement.
  2. Mobilization and Training Center: The youth wing, women’s wing, and other sub-groups can hold workshops, trainings, and strategy meetings in a conducive environment.
  3. Information and Communication Access: Members and sympathizers can easily access party information, documents, and leaders at the office.
  4. Political Visibility: A permanent structure boldly bearing the NDC colours and insignia will assert our presence, strengthen our identity, and build confidence among supporters and potential voters.
  5. Conflict Resolution and Unity Building: A neutral space for mediation and dialogue among party members will help in resolving internal issues amicably.
  6. Electoral Preparedness: With 2028 on the horizon, a functional office will be pivotal in executing our campaign strategy, registering new members, a neutral grounds for picking normination forms, vetting aspirants, trainings and coordinating polling station agents.

A Clarion appeal for action 🔥🔥🔥

This is not the time for excuses. It is time for bold and decisive leadership. As a youth activist deeply invested in the growth of the NDC in Bawku Central, the UER and in Ghana at large, I humbly but firmly call on:

Hon. Mahama Ayariga, our respected Member of Parliament who doubles as the current Majority leader in Ghana’s parliament whose leadership has brought significant development to Bawku, to lead the charge in making this office a reality if for nothing at all.

The Bawku Central Constituency Executive Committee, to prioritize this as a key project for 2025 and beyond.

Party elders, the NDC UER longest Regional chairman who is a native of Bawku, financiers and paste appointees, to support this initiative with land, materials, funds, or technical guidance.

The Regional Executive Committee of the NDC, to offer logistical and structural support in line with party-building efforts across the Upper East Region.

All patriotic NDC youth and grassroots members, to rally support, contribute in kind or cash, and make their voices heard.

Let future generations of NDC members in Bawku Central remember that we rose to the occasion when the party needed us most. Let them see in history that we, the youth and leaders of today, built the foundation for a stronger, more organized, and more impactful NDC. A Constituency Office is not a luxury—it is a necessity. The time is now.

Let us rise and build the future together.
