He disclosed that all 34 cases were identified at the Kotoka International Airport stating majority of the people who tested positive came from ”Nigeria and the rest from South Africa plus another country where we recorded one”.

“So far, with our community sequencing, we haven’t recorded Omicron but it’s something we will continue to do whilst we prepare to deal with it. But the good thing is that, whether Omicron or Delta, the preventive mechanism is the same,” he expounded.

On the Omicron, he noted that, “it spreads faster than the others but we have no evidence that it’s a severe virus than Delta or Alpha when contracted”.
