The Ghana Police Service, through the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the IGP, has arrested seven suspects connected to a robbery syndicate linked to several attacks across Accra, Tema, Anyinam, Kumasi, and Takoradi. Victims were reportedly robbed of cash, gold, and mercury during the operations.

According to police investigations, the case started after an Ivorian investor, Mousa Bamba, filed a complaint alleging that he was lured to Dzorwulu under the pretense of purchasing six kilograms of gold valued at US$450,000. The suspects, who allegedly posed as CID officers and military personnel, reportedly robbed him at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Mohammed Umaro, also known as Alhaji, and Gabriel Sewornu, popularly called Dangote. Further investigations later implicated two military officers — Lance Corporal Eugene Akurugu and Lance Corporal Emmanuel Arko, also known as Bullet — alongside three police officers: Inspector Richmond Osei, Corporal Gideon Anor, and Lance Corporal Felix Deku Tetteyga.

The implicated police personnel have since been interdicted to allow for ongoing investigations. The Ghana Police Service says efforts are ongoing to ensure all individuals involved face the full rigours of the law.
