President Mahama Receives Five Reports from High-Level Committee on Ghana’s 2027 AU Chairmanship

President John Dramani Mahama has received five reports from the High-Level Committee of Experts established to prepare Ghana for its upcoming role as Chair of the African Union (AU) in 2027.

The committee was tasked with developing a comprehensive Strategy Document, Priority Pillars and Work Programme to guide Ghana’s leadership and engagement with the continental body during the 2027 AU Chairmanship.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the committee has now successfully completed its mandate and formally presented its reports to President Mahama.

The development marks an important step in Ghana’s preparations to take on a leadership role within the African Union. The reports are expected to provide a strategic framework for Ghana’s priorities and initiatives during its tenure, while also helping to strengthen the country’s contribution to Africa’s development agenda.

Ghana has historically played an active role in African affairs, particularly in areas such as regional integration, peace and security, democratic governance, economic cooperation and Pan-Africanism.
